Antenatal Counselling
About Antenatal Counselling
Performing ultrasounds to check on your unborn baby is now a routine part of antenatal care. Sometimes a condition that may require surgery are detected this way. Some of these conditions include kidney abnormalities such as hydronephrosis, abdominal wall conditions such as gastroschisis or exomphalos, abdominal cysts such as ovarian cysts, bowel blockages such as duodenal atresia, or abnormalities seen in the chest such as tracheo-oeosphageal fistula, lung cysts, or congenital diaphragmatic hernia.
Dr Ngu will work closely with your obstetrician and obstetric care team to provide you with information about the condition so that you have as much knowledge as possible to know what to expect. The areas that will be focused on will include what to expect during your pregnancy, how it might impact the delivery of your baby and what is likely to happen once your baby is born, both in the short term and long term.
