Paediatric Upper GI Endoscopy
About Paediatric Upper GI Endoscopy
Upper GI Endoscopy is a procedure that is most commonly performed in children as a diagnostic test. The commonest conditions that are diagnosed are Coeliac disease, eosinophilic oesophagitis, and reflux oesophagitis although there are many others. Sometimes it is a therapeutic procedure, for example in treating strictures of the oesophagus or removing foreign bodies.
Recovery from the procedure is rapid and return to normal activities is usually possible the day after the procedure.
